Q&A: Lynette Eason (WHEN THE SMOKE CLEARS)
WHAT KIND OF RESEARCH DID YOU DO FOR WHEN THE SMOKE CLEARS?
I did a lot of research for When the Smoke Clears. I used the internet, of course, but most importantly, I talked to a retired fire chief and I had my FBI agent buddy read it. I also had a cop read it. They all gave me feedback and I adjusted accordingly.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR FUTURE VOLUMES IN THE DEADLY REUNIONS SERIES?
Book 2 is called When a Heart Stops. It will release in October of 2012 and then the third story will be out in the Spring of 2013.
ALL OF YOUR NOVELS INCLUDE ELEMENTS OF ROMANCE, SUSPENSE, AND FAITH – WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF WRITING STORIES THAT TOUCH ON ALL THREE?
I would say the biggest challenge is finding the right balance, making sure that I have just the right amount of everything in the story. I want to have the faith element without being preachy. I want to have the romantic element without being mushy. And I want to have the right amount of suspense to keep the readers on the edge of their seat or up until 2:00 am even though they have to work the next day. It’s all about balance.
WHO ARE THE WRITERS THAT INSPIRE YOU AS A WRITER?
Dee Henderson was my biggest inspriration. I enjoy Brandilyn Collins, Terri Blackstock, and Deb Raney even though she doesn’t write suspense.
       WHAT ARE YOU WRITING NOW?
I am working on the third story in the Deadly Reunions series. It’s due June 2nd (I think) and I’m about 1/3 of the way through it.
